With LOTS of shows having already come in September and settling into my DVR (Brooklyn 99, Agents of SHIELD, Hostages, Dracula, Almost Human, and Mob City), and some being discarded (The Blacklist [James Spader's acting is amazing though] and Michael J Fox Show) there's now lots of new shows coming in January-March (otherwise known as midseason)! Here's a few:
HELIX, Space
From Wikipedia, "Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic, Arctic Biosystems, to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel."Attempting to contain a deadly disease... in Antarctica? Awesome. It comes from writer Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica, and it's on the same network too. It has no actors that I really know, but that can be a good thing. I'll shut up and show you the trailer.
TRUE DETECTIVE, HBO
From IMDB, "The lives of two detectives, Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, become entangled during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana."A serial killer crime drama on HBO starring Woody Harrelson and Matthew McCounagheyysjjk3k3. Wow. What the synopsis doesn't say is that each season will have it's own story, characters and setting, like American Horror Story, which is a style I like.
That means within it's 8 episodes you will get a full complete story, no cliffhanger ending. Then season 2 (if there is one) could star some other A-list actors/actresses going after a laundromat arsonist or something.
BELIEVE, NBC
From Wikipedia (typical eh), "The series follows a young girl who was born with special abilities that even she cannot control, and as they start evolving, the people who are protecting her must turn to an outsider. This leads them to a wrongfully convicted death-row inmate whom they break out of prison. Although he is reluctant to take on the role as her protector, the two eventually form a bond that will guide them to helping others as well as each other while staying one step ahead of the evil forces that want the girl."I'm a bit skeptical on this one, but it's from Alfonso Cuaron, the man who made Gravity, Children of Men, and Harry Potter 3, so I'll definitely watch the pilot.
It's also from JJ Abrams insert Star Wars/Star Trek/Lost/Fringe/Alias joke here.
MIXOLOGY, ABC
Wikipedia, "The series takes place all over the course of one night at a Manhattan bar called "Mix", where six women and five men meet up for more than just a casual conversation and a drink. The episodes will follow two of the 11 characters as they meet each other for the first time and from there will determine the outcome in the season finale, which will be the end of the night."Finally, a comedy-version of 24. I'm cautious about this one, but it's a cool idea. Might get repetitive after a while, but since it's coming late February, it'll likely have only 13 episodes therefore all killer no filler.
The only actors I "know" from it are Adan Canto from The Following, Adam Campbell from Harper's Island and Vanessa Lengies all the way back from the movie Stick It, and I guess technically from Calliou back in 1998. Oh and ginger guy from revived Punk'd haha.
The 100, The CW
Wikipedia synopsis, "After a nuclear apocalypse, civilization on planet earth was destroyed. 100 juvenile prisoners will be the first to set foot on ground after 97 years."This is from the same network that has Vampire Diaries, Reign, Hart of Dixie etc where everyone is young and good looking and cheesy so I wasn't expecting much. (Arrow is good though) But it seems like a cool trailer. Desmond from Lost is in it, so that's great. The trailer is teen romance, "survival" until the 4:00 minute mark when it gets real intriguing.
All of these shows listed are 13 episodes (except for True Detective, which has 8)
So those are what I'm checking out within the next few months. Bye.
I was also going to put movies in here but that would make this too long so crp it, I'll do it some other time.
Tomorrow will have a new post, as will the next 5 days after that.
EDIT: This needs to be seen by everyone.
